Quercus ilex is the latin name for the holm oak, which shares its name with the company's CEO and owner.
The name has been chosen because of how the tree’s character reflect how we do business: evergreen, with tolerance of many different growing conditions and incredibly strong timber. Furthermore, the leaves of the holm oak were used to tell the future in ancient Greece (although we haven’t yet perfected their use for financial forecasting) and it doesn’t hurt that the tree also is particularly well suited for truffle orchards and the making of wine casks.
